Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire and Rwanda are among other countries invited to the national conference on the general states of agriculture and livestock. Represented by its Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, the country of President Paul Kagamé, which has very good relations with Guinea, shared its model and experiences in the field of agropastoral. In front of his counterpart Félix Lamah, Dr. Ildephonse Musafiri announced possible financial support through cheaper credits, around 10% interest. It was this Friday, July 5, 2024 in Conakry, at the By Issa marquee.

“I am very happy to take part in these general states, at the invitation of my Guinean counterpart, Minister Felix Lamah. I am also very happy to participate in one of the panels of the day. My contribution was to present the experiences that we have in the field of agriculture. Share what we have done in our country in Rwanda, what we have put in place in the direction of food security, as proposed by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock in a document, in consultation with local communities. It is therefore a question of promoting irrigation in order to increase the productivity of food products and exports. Also increase the management of harvests, preserve well so as not to waste what we produce. I think that we must also make an effort to transform the animal sector, in particular dairy production to improve the living conditions of citizens. We also want to make efforts on export products (avocados, peppers) and other things that we can export well,” said the Rwandan Minister of Agriculture.

Continuing, Dr. Ildephonse Musafiri emphasized the issues of financing, which according to him, can be a factor to boost the sector, considered nowadays as a business.

“The banking system must understand the complexity of the agricultural sector. As friendly countries, we will find cheaper credits that are around 10% interest. We will also introduce insurance for agriculture, livestock, plants, cattle to help financiers make decisions. We will also discuss with the banking systems so that they can hire people who understand the agricultural sector in order to benefit from sufficient financing. These are experiences that we are sharing with our counterpart in Guinea, so that we can promote the food security of our two peoples,” he said, promising agricultural transformation with Guinea, after discussing research issues, projects, as well as seeds and financing.
