“This tree is called the Munting tree. It has super cool colors. The colors are red, pink, white and purple. I hope all of you will come again to see when it flowers,” said Sandiaga in his official statement.
Apart from the beauty of the flowers, the Munting or Munting tree itself is an endemic tree species with very rare wood in Manggarai Raya (West Manggarai, Manggarai and East Manggarai), Flores, NTT.
Until the 1980s, they were very familiar with the people of Manggarai Raya, especially rural communities because it had a hard type of wood, so it was usually used for making mortar or high-class building materials.
“Remembering that young people are the generation that will open up great opportunities that can bring in jobs, especially since the parekraf sector itself is targeted to be able to create 4.4 million jobs in 2024,” Sandiaga explained.
In addition to witnessing the beauty of the Munting tree, while in Labuan Bajo, ASEAN youths stayed on the Phinisi Ship (live on board) for 4 days and 3 nights. Enjoy the beauty of this eastern part of Indonesia by sailing.
Meanwhile, Director of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yuliana Bahar explained, organizing this event was to bring together ASEAN youth representatives with their leaders.
According to him, the ASEAN Youth program is a priority for Indonesia to be able to provide a platform for dialogue between young people in the region through representatives and leaders, especially to discuss crucial issues among young people.
