The office also includes a sophisticated laboratory and a garage for experimental vehicles. The company has extensive agreements with BMW and Volkswagen. CEO Khilaf: “There is a thriving innovation system in Munich”

The Israeli LiDAR manufacturer Innoviz inaugurated a new office in Munich, Germany. The new office includes a sophisticated laboratory and a garage for experimental vehicles. The office houses sales and engineering teams, and will allow the hosting of meetings and demonstrations for expansion in the European car market.

As you may remember, Inviz has signed large-scale collaborations with the two German car giants BMW and the Volkswagen Group. Omar Khilaf, founder and CEO of Inviz, said: “We are expanding the company’s activities in the world, and an office in Munich is an important move for us. Germany is one of the leading automotive markets, and Munich specifically has a thriving innovation system, universities, research institutions as well as a skilled workforce. The move will help us maintain good relations with our customers and continue to grow in the region.”

Accumulated orders of $6.9 billion

Inviz has developed a solid state LiDAR for the automotive industry. The company’s solution is based on the use of a MEMS component that includes a mirror that can move on two axes, thereby performing a laser scan without moving parts.

In December 2022, the company reported that a major car manufacturer from Asia had chosen its second generation sensor, InnovizTwo. The contract should start generating revenue in 2024. This is the third car manufacturer to choose Inviz for implementation in commercial models, along with BMW and Volkswagen. Following the win, Inviz raised its cumulative sales forecast to $6.9 billion. Now the company is waiting for the decision of three manufacturers who are expected to choose the sensor for future vehicle models in the next six months.
