Inter coach Simone Inzaghi recognizes the importance for his team of receiving FC Barcelona on Tuesday in the Champions League. He has also responded to the criticisms of which he is the object.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi was at a press conference on Monday, on the eve of FC Barcelona’s reception in the Champions League on Tuesday (9 p.m.). In difficulty in the championship, the Nerrazurri want to put on a better face on the European stage.
On Barça’s good form : “Barcelona are a complete team. They know how to do everything, in the possession phase as well as in the non-possession phase. They are well organized. I think it’s the team in Europe that gets the ball the highest up the field. It will be a painful match against a great opponent, we will have to contain them, and strike at the right moment. (…) Their defeat in Munich (0-2 against Bayern) was not deserved. With Manchester City and Bayern, in my opinion, these are the three teams that currently offer the best football in Europe. The ranking is still open. We know the importance of this match.”
On the poor results of Inter : “As coaches, we always depend on the results. At the moment, they are not coming and it is normal for the coach to be the first in discussion. Football works like that, I’m used to it. (…) But I think we had a good match on Saturday (against AS Roma, 1-2), we deserved something else. We must do more. We need victories and results. The game tomorrow (Tuesday) is a great opportunity.”
