IOC offers psychological help to figure skater Valieva

by time news

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is ready to provide psychological assistance to the figure skater Kamila Valieva, said the organization’s communications director Mark Adams. Tomorrow, February 14, sports arbitration will announce the decision in the case of a positive doping test of a Russian athlete who took gold at the Beijing Olympics.

“Yes, we believe that this is (psychological support.— “b”) may be required, we are ready for this,” said Mr. Adams (quoted by TASS). “But first of all, assistance should be provided by members of her team. We also have several measures to support athletes, there are relevant employees. There is a possibility of support, but, as I said, first of all it should come from the athlete’s team.”

In the December doping test, the skaters found trimetazidine, but the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) allowed the girl to the Beijing Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency are contesting the decision. The Court of Arbitration for Sport is due to make its decision before the singles competition, scheduled for February 15, takes place.

RUSADA initiated an investigation into the figure skater’s staff.
