In a congratulatory message on the occasion of the glorious Throne Day, Ms. Pope stressed that Morocco has become, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, a “crucial partner for the IOM.”
Thanks to the wisdom and leadership of the Sovereign, Morocco has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of migrants, she noted, recalling that the Kingdom demonstrated its global leadership six years ago by hosting in Marrakech the intergovernmental conference to adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
This is a “defining event” that demonstrated HM the King’s exemplary commitment to comprehensive migration policies, the UN official said, adding that thanks to the Sovereign’s leadership, the Moroccan government and the IOM have worked together on numerous projects to help migrants and improve migration.
Ms. Pope also reiterated IOM’s commitment to working closely with the Kingdom for safe, dignified and beneficial migration for all, expressing her deep gratitude to His Majesty the King for his support and the spirit of partnership that binds Morocco and the UN Organization.
