A week after the last beta of iOS 18.1, Apple is already introducing a new build. The final release will be made at the end of October and will include selected services from Apple’s expertise for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro (Max). However, this applies only to certain regions and to US English as a language. In this country, users have to deal with other features: Apple is making improvements in some areas and, for example, is further improving the control center thanks to new useful options.

Additional settings for the control center and camera controls
iOS 18.1 provides separate controls for WiFi and VPN. This means that these networks will be able to be turned off and on quickly without having to open a large “Connections” tab. Separate options for AirDrop and satellite connection are also not available on board. It is also possible to reset the control center under the item of the same name in the settings. A new command in the Shortcuts app allows you to show or hide Control Center.

The range of camera control functions will increase in the future, iOS 18.1 has brought with it the first innovation: After calling the camera and tapping the button twice, there is another option to switch to the front camera.

Optimizing iPhone mirroring, know that bugs still cause problems
Apple has now removed the word “preview” when it comes to the product pages of iOS 18, macOS 15 and Co. However, the information also varies depending on the region: In Switzerland, for example, refer to Apple Intelligence and iPhone mirroring. This will only be available at a later date in the EU. Users who can access the feature benefit from a significant improvement: Thanks to drag and drop, files can be easily exchanged between iPhone and Mac.

By the way, an annoying bug for the owners of the iPhone 16 Pro has not been removed with the current beta: Touches on the touch screen are still incorrectly recognized and therefore unexpected entries are made (see here).
