Apple’s dramatic decision to remove the home button from the iPhone devices, and later from the iPads as well, caused a stir around the world – along with a question: how do they manage without them. Now, it appears that Apple is facing another dramatic decision, which will take effect in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max devices, which will be announced next year.

Apple analyst Ming-Chu Ko published an assessment, according to which the company is expected to remove the volume buttons from the device, as well as the lock button. According to him, Apple will replace them with capacitive buttons, which will be able to provide feedback using a Taptic engine. They will be activated through various touches or swipes, in order to perform actions.
According to estimates, for a start the change will only apply to the more expensive devices in the series, so it will take some more time until all iPhones are button-free. It is likely that the various Android manufacturers will also try to follow Apple’s lead, but it will take several more years until the physical buttons on smartphones will remain a distant memory.

Last week, Apple confirmed that it has given in to the European Union’s demand and will change the charging connection and switch to a USB-C type instead of the type of charging that existed until now. This, after the European Union legally required all phones sold in the member states to use a uniform cable starting in the fall of 2024, so that there would be a universal fixing part.
