Sales of Apple smartphones in the first quarter of 2024 in China decreased by almost a fifth. This is stated in the quarterly report of the analytical company Counterpoint Research, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
iPhone sales in the Chinese market decreased by 19.1%, and Apple’s share decreased from 19.7% to 15.7%. The American brand was followed by Oppo and Vivo, which also showed a decline in sales – by 15.5% and 0.4%, respectively.
The greatest growth in the first quarter of 2024 was shown by Huawei – 69.7%. Moreover, these data are provided before the release of the flagship Huawei Pura 70 series, which, apparently, is popular in its homeland. Honor (11.5%) and Xiaomi (8.6%) also showed positive sales dynamics.
Counterpoint Research deputy director Ethan Qi highlighted the recovery of the Chinese smartphone market, noting sales growth of 4.6% compared to the last quarter of 2023. He noted that this was due to discounts during the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Senior analyst Mengmeng Zhang, in turn, noted that Chinese brands have strengthened their positions thanks to budget new products that are popular among migrant workers returning home for the holidays.
