Batting on a winning target of 163, Hyderabad started cautiously. Hyderabad openers Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma, who scored just 11 runs from the first four overs, hit the first boundary in the fifth over off Mohammad Shami. Loki Ferguson, who bowled the last over of the Hyderabad Powerplay for a total of 14 runs in that over, got off to a good start by bowling 17 runs for a total of 42 runs in the Powerplay overs.
Captain Kane Williamson has been tasked with assisting youngster Abhishek Sharma in attacking him. With both batsmen batting well, Hyderabad’s score crossed 50. In the ninth over, Abhishek Sharma caught Sai Sudarshan for a six off Rashid Khan. The pair split after adding 64 runs for the first wicket.
Rahul Tripathi, who came to the crease later, moved the scoreboard with Williamson. Tripathi retired with 17 off 11 balls. Williamson also changed his track as he came to the crease to replace Tripathi. Williamson smashed 16 off 16 overs by Hardik Pandya and 10 off 14 overs by Rahul Thewatia to help Hyderabad cross the 100 mark. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad captain completed his half-century.
Williamson returned to the crease, but Nicholas Pooran and Aidan Markraw (12 * off 8 balls) put Hyderabad ahead with ease.
For Gujarat, captains Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.
Earlier, Gujarat lost the toss and opted to bat. Gujarat scored 162 for seven in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Hardik Pandya’s half-century (50 * off 42 balls) gave Gujarat the lead. Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets each for Hyderabad.
