With 14 successful seasons in the IPL, the auction for this season will be a mega auction as 2 more teams will be added and 10 teams will play in the 15th season this year.
Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the new teams. So from this season the IPL is moving towards the next stage even more tremendously. The mega auction for this season will take place next February.
In this context, it is doubtful that the 15th season of the IPL will be held in India due to the increasing incidence of corona in India. At the same time, India does not want to host the IPL in the United Arab Emirates. This is because the 13th season of the IPL and the 2nd half of the 14th season were held in the United States. So the BCCI, which does not want to rely solely on the United States, plans to hold it in another country.
As such, it was reported that it could be held in one of two countries, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has expressed interest in hosting the last 2 seasons which have not been held in India. But both of those 2 seasons were held in the United States.
In this context, it seems that the BCCI is planning to hold this season in Sri Lanka. “We have seen reports that the BCCI is planning to hold the IPL in Sri Lanka. Proud to host the IPL. We will hold consultations with the BCCI soon in this regard, ”said the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
