London: English star all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 season. Following the Ashes’ 2021-22 defeat, Stokes decided to focus more on Test cricket. The English all-rounder will not be participating in the upcoming mega star auction (IPL 2022 Mega Auction). Earlier, English Test captain Joe Root was ruled out of the IPL.

Stokes, who was the star of the Rajasthan Royals last season, was not retained by the franchise before the star auction. Stokes did not play in the second half of the 2021 season due to mental illness. In the recently concluded Ashes series, Stokes scored 236 and took four wickets as England lost the series 0-4.

There is no route in the IPL

English Test captain Joe Root has announced that he will not be taking part in the IPL mega star auction. The announcement comes after a miserable defeat in the Ashes series. Root said the England team had more to do and was determined to make the maximum sacrifice for it. The route was registered at the 2018 star auction but no team was called. Root has not been included in the England Twenty20 squad for two years.

Earlier, it was reported that Joe Root would register for the mega star auction. Joe Root, one of the batting legends of contemporary cricket, has never played in the IPL. But Root reckoned he would make his way to the IPL with the arrival of two new teams in the 2022 season. But the English Test captain has thwarted his plans with the Ashes defeat.
