Ten teams are to participate in the IPL 2022 season. The two existing teams are based in Lucknow and Ahmedabad with 8 existing teams. The IPL executive committee has announced that a mega auction of 10 teams for the 2022 season will be held on February 12 and 13.
Prior to this mega auction it was reported that each team could retain a maximum of 4 players. At the same time it was reported that the new teams could select three players. The Lucknow and Ahmedabad teams are expected to submit the final list of selected players soon.
The IPL title sponsorship has now been transferred from Vivo to Tata. The 2022 season is to be branded as the Tata IPL. The Indian Cricket Board is expected to host the upcoming season at four to five venues without air traffic amidst the spread of omega.
