Franchise Logistics Drive the Return to India
Moving large delegations across international borders proved increasingly complicated for participating teams. Franchises had to coordinate international travel for players, support staff, officials, and auxiliary auction personnel.
Those operational hurdles led the IPL franchises to raise concerns about the difficulties involved in managing overseas delegations for a mini-auction. Venue Selection and Peak Wedding Season Challenges
A final city for the December event has not yet been selected. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is vetting candidate cities based primarily on hotel capacity.

WPL Auction and Venue Expansion
Domestic tournament calendars are also taking shape alongside the men’s league preparations. Additionally, the Women’s Premier League 2027 season is projected to run from January 17 to February 7, with discussions pointing toward matches hosted at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium, Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium, and a potential new venue at the Varanasi stadium as it comes online early next year (varanasi stadium is expected to be ready by early next year).
