Bengaluru: The Mumbai Indians, who had been lurking in the IPL star auction on the first day with no significant call-ups, on the second day brought in the much-anticipated Jofra Archer. Archer, who has not played due to injury this season, has been included in the Mumbai squad for next season after a tough match against Rajasthan and Hyderabad.

Rajasthan called up Rs 6 crore for archery but withdrew as Sunrisers Hyderabad, along with Mumbai, came into the fray. The auction for the archer was later called between Hyderabad and Mumbai. Eventually, Archer joined the Mumbai team for Rs 8 crore. With Archer joining in to share the new ball with Jaspreet Bumra, Mumbai bowling will be even stronger. But the fact that Archer will not be playing next season is a setback for Mumbai.

Colorado Romario Shepherd

Rajasthan West Indies pacer Romario Shepherd has been put up for auction in a bid to bring in another top foreign pace bowler to join the team after Trent Bolt left Archer. Initially, the Mumbai Indians were also on the scene for Shepard. Later, Chennai and Hyderabad came into the fray. In the end, Shepherd was brought to the Hyderabad team for Rs 7.75 crore.

Mitchell Santner is another player that Chennai has reclaimed in the auction today. Chennai reclaim Santner for Rs 1.9 crore after auction with Hyderabad Meanwhile, foreign players Glenn Phillips, Ben McDermott, Nathan Ellis and Mercy Gurbas were not in the auction.
