IPL Auction 2022 Live Update: Mumbai Indians have acquired Malayalee player Basil Thampi in the IPL megastar auction. Mumbai won the pacer from Kerala for a base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Until last season, Sunrisers was the star of Hyderabad. Basel was named in the team’s XI for the 2019 season.

Apart from Basil, Mumbai had also acquired Divald Breivis and Ishant Kishan through auction. Ishan was brought back to Mumbai for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore at the 2022 auction.

Apart from them, Mumbai had retained captains Rohit Sharma, Jaspreet Bumra, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. 29.45 lakh is now in the hands of Mumbai.

Apart from Basil, 12 other Kerala Cricket Association players, including former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth, have been shortlisted for the finals. Of these, three players have so far been auctioned off for the IPL 2022 season.

Apart from Basil, Malayalee player KM Asif and KCA guest star Robin Uthappa also got the opportunity. Both are owned by Chennai Super Kings. The Rajasthan Royals also acquired Malayalee and Karnataka star Devadath Padikkal. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore player was acquired by the Royals for Rs 7.75 crore.

However, Kerala’s two wicket – keeper batsmen Mohammad Azharuddin and Vishnu Vinod were not picked.
