Chandrakant Pandit has been appointed as the head coach of franchise cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is expected to take over from the upcoming 2023 season.
Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL cricket title twice. Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla are the owners of this team. In the 15th IPL season held last April-May, the Kolkata team was eliminated in the first round. The team finished second in the previous season.
In this context, Chandrakant Pandit, who is known as the coach with the highest success rate in the Indian domestic cricket circle, has been appointed as the head coach by the Kolkata team management. The team has released an announcement in this regard on social media.
Chandrakant Pandit has said that he is looking forward to this opportunity with the Kolkata team. A former player of the Indian cricket team, the teams he leads in domestic cricket often win the championship. So far, he has coached the team to win six Ranji Trophy titles namely 3 for Mumbai, 2 for Vidarbha and 1 for Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier, he had said by June last that he cannot work under any foreign coach. He had also said that that is why he could not work in IPL cricket. He had also informed about the meeting with Shah Rukh Khan.
