Chennai: The final list of players to be retained by the teams ahead of the IPL Mega Auction. Chennai Super Kings have retained four players, including skipper MS Dhoni. Apart from Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings have retained Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali.
However, it is interesting to note that Chennai retained Ravindra Jadeja, not Dhoni, as the number one player. With this, Jadeja will get a reward of Rs 16 crore. Dhoni is the second player to be retained by Chennai. Dhoni will be paid Rs 12 crore. Moin Ali (Rs 8 crore) and Ruthuraj Gaekwad (Rs 6 crore) are the players retained by Chennai.
Rajasthan Royals Malayalee player Sanju Samson was retained as the first player. But for retaining only three players, Sanju will be paid Rs 14 crore. Jose Butler (Rs 10 crore) and Yashaswi Jaiswal (Rs 4 crore) are the other players retained by Rajasthan.
Kolkata Knight Riders Two foreign players and two Indian players were retained. All-rounder Andre Russell (12 crore), Venkatesh Iyer (8 crore), mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty (8 crore) and spinner Sunil Narine (6 crore) were retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Delhi Capitals Captain Rishabh Pant (Rs 16 crore), Akshar Patel (Rs 9 crore), opener Prithviraj Shah (Rs 7.5 crore) and South African pacer Andrich Nortia (Rs 6.5 crore) were retained.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained Virat Kohli (15 crore), Glenn Maxwell (11 crore) and pace bowler Mohammad Siraj (7 crore) who resigned as captain last season.
Mumbai Indians Captain Rohit Sharma (Rs 16 crore) and pace bowler Jaspreet Bumra (Rs 12 crore) were retained. Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 8 crore) and Kieron Pollard (Rs 6 crore) were retained.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain Kane Williamson (14 crore), pacer Umran Malik (4 crore) and Batter Abdul Samad (4 crore) were retained.
Punjab Kings Mayank Agarwal (12 crore) and left-arm pacer Arshadeep Singh (4 crore) were retained.
With the addition of two new teams, each team will be able to retain four players ahead of the IPL mega star auction in December.
The Punjab Kings are the highest paid team after retaining players. Punjab could invest Rs 72 crore in the auction. Delhi Capitals holds the lowest amount. Delhi could invest Rs 47.50 crore in the auction.
The other teams holding are Chennai Super Kings (Rs 48 crore), Kolkata (Rs 48 crore), Mumbai Indians (Rs 48 crore), Rajasthan Royals (Rs 62 crore), Bangalore (Rs 57 crore) and Hyderabad (Rs 68 crore).
