by time news

Chennai: IPS officer Sampath Kumar, who is probing IPL gambling, has said in a statement that former captain of the Indian cricket team Dhoni was involved in gambling. On that basis, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni had filed a case in the Chennai High Court in 2014 against police officer Sampath Kumar seeking Rs 100 crore in damages for allegedly tarnishing his reputation.

Former IPS officer Sampath Kumar had filed a petition in the high court seeking dismissal of the case. The petition came up for hearing yesterday before Judge N. Seshasai. The judge hearing the case said a witness hearing is currently underway in the case. He dismissed Sampath Kumar’s petition, saying it would take many more years for the main case to come to an end if the petition was accepted. Sampath Kumar will have to face the witness hearing. The judge also said that the trial of Dhoni’s case would be adjourned till December 15.
