IPTU 2023: single quota and first installment due today for part of SP residents – News

by time news

The payment in cash and of the first installment of the IPTU (Urban Property and Territorial Tax) of 2023 expires this Thursday (9) for a large part of the population of São Paulo, according to the city hall’s calendar.

The tax this year arrives with 5.5% readjustment, slightly below 2022 inflation, according to the IPCA (Extended Consumer Price Index). The taxpayer can choose to pay the total amount in cash, with a 3% discount, or in up to ten installments.

Some taxpayers already paid the tax at the beginning of the month, as the São Paulo City Hall allowed the choice of other dates in February for taxpayers who made a cadastral update.

Most taxpayers, however, need to pay in cash or the first installment this Thursday or Monday (14), depending on the case. Properties that will receive the first notification in 2023, for example, have a deadline of the 14th.

Notifications about the tax with the respective bank slips have been sent by the City of São Paulo since January 19th. It is also possible to query the value in the municipal government website about the tax, searching for the consultation option of the general issuance and 2nd copy of the IPTU.

The forms of payment of the tax remain unchanged: it can be carried out at self-service terminals or via internet banking at banks. Through these online channels, there is no need for a printed document, just the information on the property registration number (which can be obtained from IPTU notifications). Payment can also be made at cash desks and lottery outlets – a printed document is required for these channels.

Non-payment of any portion of the IPTU subjects the taxpayer to enrollment in the municipal Cadin.

The posting of notifications for exempt taxpayers will take place from February 23, 2023. Taxpayers who opted for sending to administrators have a due date on March 20.
