IPU GA: Moroccan parliamentary delegation meets with President of Angolan National Assembly

On this occasion, Ms. Cerqueira expressed her warm thanks and deep gratitude to the Moroccan Parliament for the technical, material and logistical support, as well as for the mobilization of a team of interpreters during the 147th General Assembly of the IPU, which is being held from 23 to 27 October in Luanda, noting that this support reflects the spirit of solidarity and cooperation between two brotherly African countries, the statement added.

Mrs. Cerqueira also highlighted the depth of the historical relations uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Angola, welcoming in this regard the support provided by Morocco to the liberation movement in Angola during the period of colonization, under the era of the late HM Hassan II, through the reception and training of elements of this movement, notes the same source.

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Angola also welcomed the achievements and the level of development that Morocco is experiencing in different areas, which makes it “an example to follow on the African continent”, noting that the port of Tangier Med is a successful example and an important project on the scale of the continent.

She also affirmed that the participation of the Moroccan parliamentary delegation in the work of the 147th IPU General Assembly constitutes strong support for the aspirations of the various parliamentary institutions around the world to consolidate peace, justice and development.

For his part, the First Vice-President of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Sabbari, who leads the Moroccan delegation to the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the 212th session of the Governing Council, highlighted the importance of these talks which reflect the strength of the bonds of friendship and the depth of the relations of cooperation linking the legislative institutions of Morocco and Angola.

Mr. Sabbari stressed in this regard the need to strengthen these relations, through the exchange of visits and experiences in the field of legislation, control and management of the legislative institution.
