Iran and the UAE qualify for the round of 16 of the Asian Cup

/ Today, Tuesday, two matches took place at six o’clock in the evening, as part of the third round of the third group of the 2023 Asian Cup football competitions taking place in Qatar.

In the first match, the Palestinian team defeated the Hong Kong team with a score of 3-0, and the match took place at the Lekhwiya Sports Stadium.

The first half ended with Palestine leading by one goal without a response, which came from player Uday Al-Dabbagh in the 12th minute.

In the second half, the Palestinian team added a second goal in the 48th minute through player Zaid Al-Qanbar, and the Palestine team scored its third goal in the 60th minute through Uday Al-Dabbagh.

The Palestinian team was raised to 4 points, with a goal difference over the Emirates, to come third in the third group, while the Hong Kong team was at the bottom of the group standings without points.

The Iranian team confirmed its lead in the group with a full score after achieving a victory over its Emirati counterpart with a score of 2-1. The match took place at the Madinah Educational Stadium.

The first half ended with the Iranian team leading with a free goal, the goal coming from player Mehdi Taremi in the 26th minute.

In the second half, the Iranian team returned to score its second goal through the same player, Mehdi Taremi, in the 65th minute, and in the 90th + 3 minute, Emirati player Yahya Al-Ghassani scored his team’s only goal, reviving the UAE’s hopes of qualifying directly to the round of 16.

The Iranian team raised its score to 9 points, while the UAE team’s score froze at point 4. Despite the loss, it qualified directly to the round of 16 on goal difference from Palestine, which finished third, and maintains its chances of qualifying as the third best.
