Russian fighter Sukhoi Su-35 (photo) is among the aircraft that will be incorporated Disclosure/Russian Air Force Iran’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Mahdi Farahi, announced this Tuesday (28) the purchase of military aircraft of Russia, which will be aimed at expanding the country’s Air Force. Two fighter models will be incorporated: the Yakovlev Yak-130 and Sukhoi Su-35; as well as Mil Mi-28 attack helicopters, Farahi told Iran’s Tasnim news agency. The number of aircraft acquired, however, was not disclosed. According to the deputy minister, Iran has the largest fleet of military helicopters in the region, but has not acquired any fighter jets in recent years, apart from some MiG-29 Fulcrum, in the 1990s. The agreements recently signed between Iran and Russia involve economic cooperation , commercial, energy and military.
