Iran announces expansion of Air Force with purchase of helicopters and fighters from Russia

Two fighter models will be incorporated: the Yakovlev Yak-130 and Sukhoi Su-35; as well as Mil Mi-28 attack helicopters, Farahi told Iran’s Tasnim news agency. The number of aircraft acquired, however, was not disclosed. According to the deputy minister, Iran has the largest fleet of military helicopters in the region, but has not acquired any fighter jets in recent years, apart from some MiG-29 Fulcrum, in the 1990s. The agreements recently signed between Iran and Russia involve economic cooperation , commercial, energy and military.
