Tehran: Iran’s military advisor and Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) general Abolfasal Aljani has been killed during a special military mission in Syria, Iranian media has revealed.
Abolfazal was described as the martyred savior of the Holy Land. But it is not clear how he was killed.
Those who fight for Iran in Syria and Iraq are often described as the saviors of the Holy Land.
Iran maintains that its forces were deployed in Syria at the request of Damascus and in a military advisory capacity.
Earlier this month, the bodies of five IRGC members killed years ago in Syria were recovered and cremated. The bodies were identified through DNA testing.
Later he was buried in Tehran and elsewhere.
Meanwhile, in March, the media revealed that two of its officers had been killed in an Israeli strike in Syria.
There was also a warning that Israel would have to pay a heavy price for this.
