Iran has commented on the accusations made in the American media, which talk about its involvement in a plot to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, describing them as “malicious accusations.”

According to Agence France-Presse, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that Iran “strongly rejects any involvement in the recent armed attack on Trump.”

Iran’s mission to the United Nations said, “Talk about a previous plan to kill the Republican candidate for the US presidency are baseless and malicious accusations.”

CNN and other media outlets said that “the US authorities received information from a ‘human source’ about a plot hatched by Tehran against the former president, prompting the Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting senior US political figures, to raise the level of protection measures imposed on the Republican billionaire.”

CNN reported, citing informed sources, that “the United States received intelligence information from a source in the past few weeks about an Iranian plot to attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump.”
