/ Iran’s mission to the United Nations said in a statement on Monday that Tehran was not involved in an attack that killed 3 American soldiers in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border.

Iranian media reported on Monday that Tehran denied any connection to a drone attack in Jordan that killed American soldiers.

The Iranian news agency “IRNA” reported that Tehran “denies its involvement in the attack” that targeted a US military base in northeastern Jordan, on the border with Syria, and claimed the lives of 3 American soldiers and wounded more than 30 others.

“These accusations are politically motivated and aim to distort the facts in the region,” IRNA quoted the ministry’s spokesman Nasser Kanaani as saying, in response to a statement by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron calling on Tehran to “stop the escalation,” according to Agence France-Presse.

This denial comes after US President Joe Biden vowed to respond to the killing of American soldiers in the attack claimed by Iraqi factions.

It also comes after Republican Party circles launched an attack on Biden, due to his policies towards Iran, accusing him of being lenient in confronting the militias supported by Tehran.

The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, announced that the number of American casualties in the attack on the military site “22” in Jordan had risen to 34.

A Pentagon statement said that 8 American soldiers were transferred to a military hospital outside Jordan for treatment.

The statement indicated that the “22 Military Site” located in northeastern Jordan includes 350 American soldiers, as part of the army and air forces, as part of a mission to fight ISIS.

For its part, Jordan condemned the terrorist attack that targeted an advanced position on the border with Syria.

Government spokesman Muhannad Mobaideen said the attack did not result in any casualties among the Jordanian Armed Forces.

In this context, he stressed that his country will continue to confront the threat of terrorism and drug and weapons smuggling across the Syrian border into Jordan, and will firmly confront anyone who attempts to attack its security.

Reuters quoted a Jordanian security source as saying that Amman had asked Washington to send more support and defensive equipment.

Because of fears that Iran and the groups it supports will become involved in any wider conflict in the Middle East.

The source added that Jordan recently stressed to the United States the urgent need to strengthen its defenses.
