Iran executed the former deputy defense minister, Alireza Akbari, who also holds British citizenship.

In the country they claimed that he was a spy for the British intelligence agency MI6, and according to the charges the British paid him 2 million dollars.

In Iran they claimed that Akbari passed information to foreign parties regarding 178 senior Iranian officials, including the head of the Iranian nuclear program Mohsen Fakhri-Zadeh, who was eliminated in 2020, when Iran claimed that Israel was responsible for the elimination.

This is another execution from a chain of events of this type that the regime has been carrying out in recent weeks following the great pressure of the hijab protest that is spreading around the world.

According to the allegations, Akbari carried out his intelligence work through a large number of private companies, which worked with companies in London. Iran claimed that the heads of these companies were intelligence officers.

It was also claimed in Iran that Akbari met with an MI6 agent and the former British ambassador to Iran, Richard Dalton.

The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sonak, attacked Iran and said on Twitter that he was “shocked by the expenditure to kill”. He also claimed that “this is a cowardly act done by a barbaric regime that has no respect for human rights and its people. My thoughts are with Akbari’s family and friends.”
