Iran issued the final report on Sunday on the investigation into the causes of the helicopter crash that killed the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions.

The report of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces revealed that “the main reason for the helicopter crash was the complex climatic and atmospheric conditions of the region during the spring season, which led to the sudden appearance of a dense and rising fog mass and the helicopter colliding with the mountain, while excluding any other possibilities for its crash.”

The report explained that “this final result is what the Supreme Experts Committee of the General Staff of the Armed Forces reached.”

The report confirmed that “all documents and papers related to the maintenance and repair of the helicopter were examined, from the time of purchase and use until the time of the accident, including major repairs and replacement of major and important parts, to ensure that all procedures were safe and implemented according to the specified standards; documents related to helicopter repairs during the past four years were also reviewed by experts, and no problems were observed in the procedures taken.”

The report added that “the presidential helicopter moved in the expected path and did not deviate from this path. The remaining parts and systems of the helicopter (including engines, power transmission and fueling systems, and electronic and electrical equipment) were inspected by experts and specialists in the Aviation Industry Organization of the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Support, without observing any defects,” according to what was reported by the “IRNA” agency.

The report confirmed that “based on the review report of the technical committee of forensic medicine, the results of toxicology tests and medical analyses on the bodies of the victims did not reveal any suspicious cases; the helicopter parts and systems were also examined by experts, and no signs of sabotage were found in them,” according to the Iranian “IRNA” agency.

The report also explained that experts and specialists conducted a study “on the possibility of the helicopter being targeted by offensive and defensive systems, electronic warfare, and the activation of a magnetic and laser field, but they ruled out any interference of the aforementioned elements in the occurrence of the accident.”
