Nagasaki Remembers Nuclear Attack Amid G7 Absence
Adults, 12:38
Nagasaki will commemorate the 79th anniversary of the nuclear attack that devastated the city on this afternoon. However, the absence of representatives from the United States and other G7 countries has sparked protests. Local authorities decided not to invite Israel, sparking criticism.
The ceremony, usually held in front of the Nagasaki Peace Memorial Park, will not feature American Ambassador Emanuel Rahm, British Ambassador Julia Longbottom, or representatives from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, or the European Union.
