MADRID, July 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Iranian rescue forces have finally managed to save the warship ‘Sahand’ completely, which ended up sinking in the port of Bandar Abbas, in the south of the country, after several days in danger of sinking.
The ship began sinking on July 7 due to a possible failure in its pumping system and ended up sinking two days later due to the failure of the system used to remove the ship from the water.
The ship was refloated last night, according to Iranian media, and does not appear to have suffered major damage, according to the first estimate obtained by the semi-official Tasnim agency.
The ‘Sahand’, a Moudge-class frigate, part of the Islamic Republic’s Southern Fleet and which the Iranian media also created as a destroyer, was presented in December 2018, equipped with radar evasion systems and capable of long journey up to five months without need for replenishment.
