In response to the assassination of the leader of the political bureau of the terrorist organization Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, Iran raised the red flag of revenge on the dome of the Jamkaran Mosque.

The symbolic gesture reportedly underscores Iran’s determination to avenge the killing and demonstrates deep concern and outrage in the country. As is known, in Shiite tradition, the red flag symbolizes blood and revenge, raised in the event of heavy losses or as a call for vengeance.

The last time the red flag of revenge was raised was on January 3 this year after a terrorist attack in Kerman province, when ISIS terrorists detonated two bombs during a mourning procession marking the anniversary of the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani.

The symbolic gesture was an expression of Iran’s decision to avenge the death of Soleimani, a key figure in the country’s military leadership.

Earlier, Cursor reported that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas declared July 31 a national day of mourning. Flags will be lowered as a sign of respect on that day, the Palestinian official news agency reported. Iran declared three days of mourning for Ismail Haniyeh, according to state media reports. Memorial events are planned in Tehran.

In addition, “Cursor” has already reported that the liquidation of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the political wing of Hamas, could become a significant obstacle to reaching an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages. The murder of such an important figure as Haniyeh could upset the fragile balance of the negotiating process and make it difficult for the parties to reach agreements.
