The latest satellite images from commercial company Planet Labs show a significant expansion of two key ballistic missile production facilities in Iran. The development follows an October 2022 deal in which Iran agreed to supply missiles to Russia, as well as Yemen’s Houthis and Hezbollah terrorists.

Reuters writes about this.

Researchers from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey and the CNA think tank in Washington confirm that more than 30 new buildings have been constructed at the Khojir and Modarres sites near Tehran. These buildings are surrounded by earthen berms, typical of missile production facilities, to minimize the risk of an explosion and subsequent damage to neighboring structures.

Geoffrey Lewis, a nuclear expert, points out that construction of new facilities began last August at Khojar and in October at Modarres. “This demonstrates Iran’s strategic intent to enhance its missile capabilities,” Lewis said.

Three Iranian officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that both facilities are being expanded to increase production of conventional ballistic missiles. One official also said the new facilities will double production of drones, which will presumably be sold to Russia and missiles to Hezbollah and the Houthis.
