Iran responded to the statement published by France, Germany and England, regarding their demand not to attack Israel, after the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, “The statement of the leaders of the three European countries was published while we are witnessing the Zionist entity continuing to commit all kinds of international crimes, including genocide and war crimes against the defenseless Palestinian people due to the indifference of Western countries supporting the Israeli regime. The Zionist authorities’ impunity has increased their audacity in committing these crimes in a more heinous manner.”
He added: “The three aforementioned countries, without any objection to the crimes of the Zionist regime and its international crimes, are brazenly demanding that the Islamic Republic of Iran not act as a deterrent against the regime that violates its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” stressing that “such demands lack political logic, are completely contrary to the principles and rules of international law, and constitute popular and practical support for the origin of international crimes and terrorism in the world and the region, and encourage and reward perpetrators of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and terrorism.”
“If the aforementioned countries truly seek peace and stability in the region, they must stand firmly against the warmongering and adventurism of the Israeli apartheid regime, the war on Gaza, and the heinous and horrific killings of women, children, and civilians immediately,” Kanaani continued, noting that “the Islamic Republic of Iran is resolute in defending its sovereignty and national security, as well as helping to establish stable stability in the region and creating deterrence against the real source and true origin of insecurity and terrorism in the region.”
The leaders of Britain, France and Germany “called on Iran and its allies to refrain from launching attacks on Israel,” stressing that “Iranian attacks will lead to an escalation of tensions and an expansion of the war in the region.”
