Iran raised its tone against Israel and its allies — the United States, Germany, France and Spain — by firing back at what it called “barbaric crimes” caused by airstrikes and land incursions into the Gaza Strip. The criticism took place at the International Organization for Migration, a permanent body of the UN (United Nations), this Thursday (2).

Iran’s permanent representative in the Geneva office, Mehdi Aliabadi, said the Zionist regime’s action to forcibly displace and evacuate the Palestinian population is “a clear example of a crime against humanity” and warned that the “brutal attacks will lead to a new migration crisis”. The information comes from IRNA, Iran’s official news agency.
“Following our country’s proposal, representatives of the Zionist regime [Israel]America, France, Germany and Spain, in a coordinated action, supported the crimes of that regime and provided an opportunity for the representation of our country [Irã] explain other aspects of the Zionist regime’s barbaric crimes while rejecting its baseless claims,” he added.
The statement comes less than a week after the controversial beating death by Armita Geravanda 16-year-old girl who suffered physical violence from the morality police of the country of the ayatollahs for refusing to wear the Islamic veil (hijab).
Gervand was beaten on October 1st, fell into a coma and died last Saturday (28th). Iran’s morality police enforce the Islamic dress code, which requires women to cover their hair and wear long, loose-fitting clothing.
This is not the first death of a woman due to wearing the veil. In September 2022, 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was in the custody of the morality police when she was beaten and succumbed to her injuries.
The country has experienced a series of anti-government protests, which have turned into the biggest demonstration of opposition to Iranian authorities in years. Since then, countless women have appeared without the veil in public, defying local authorities.
Aliabadi pointed out the duty and called for Israel’s withdrawal from the UN specialized body for migration situations: “The organization’s members cannot remain indifferent to this crisis and simply watch the formation of a new displacement and migration crisis.”
The Standing Committee of the International Organization for Migration is one of the organization’s most important annual meetings, which takes place in Geneva and is attended by ambassadors and representatives from the organization’s member countries.
