Iran-Saudi Arabia agree to renew diplomatic ties

Iran and Saudi Arabia have agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations.

It is expected that the agreement established at the initiative of China will end the tension between the two countries for the past 7 years.

Also, it is said that the risk of war between the two countries either directly or indirectly through other countries has decreased.

In this regard, a joint statement issued by Iran and Saudi Arabia states:

It has been decided to re-establish diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Accordingly, both the countries are going to set up their ambassadors alternately.

These activities will be completed in a maximum of two months, the statement said.

The US, which has dominated West Asian politics, is now seen as withdrawing from the region.

In this context, Iran and Saudi Arabia, which have been following the conflict trend in the international arena through China’s mediation, have agreed to establish diplomatic relations between them, which is said to be a victory for China.

There is ongoing tension between Shia-dominated Iran and Sunni-dominated Saudi Arabia.

In Yemen, many people are dying in the civil war because Iran is supporting the Houthi factions and Saudi Arabia is supporting the government forces.

It is hoped that the Yemeni civil war will end permanently as diplomatic relations have now been established between the two countries.
