Iran’s Foreign Minister warned the United States this Sunday that Tehran will “inevitably” attack North American military bases in the Middle East if they are used to “defend and support” Israel, according to Efe.

According to that Spanish news agency, which cites its Iranian counterpart, the ISNA agency, Hosein Amir Abdolahian warned that “if the airspace or territory of the aforementioned countries are used by the US to defend and support the Tel Aviv regime, the American base in that country will inevitably be attacked.”

The head of Iran’s diplomacy concluded Tehran’s response to the attack against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, on April 1, which his country’s government attributed to Israel, and which killed six Syrians and seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, including two generals.

Hosein Amir Abdolahjan also said that countries in the region were informed of the operation 72 hours before it began: “We informed our neighbors and countries in the region that the response of the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of self-defense is certain,” he said. Abdolahian.

The objective of the offensive, launched on Saturday night, was, according to Abdolajhan, “solely for the Israeli regime”.

“The fact that we limited ourselves to self-defense and punishment of the Zionist regime means that we did not define any civilian target in our response and that our forces did not target an economic and population location,” he said.

The minister highlighted that, since the start of the war in Gaza, on October 7, Iran has always opposed the increase in tension in the region, according to Efe.

On Saturday night, Iran attacked Israel with around 300 drones and missiles, the vast majority of which were intercepted outside Israeli airspace, in response to the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria, attributed to Israel, which destroyed the building and provoked 13 dead, including two generals of the Iranian paramilitary group.

Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel, which caused serious injuries to one person and minor injuries to eight others, drew strong condemnation around the world and calls for restraint.
