Tehran: A nine-year-old boy died after being shot by the police in Iran. The incident took place in the southwestern province of Khuzestan. The child’s father was stealing a car when the police opened fire.
The father was trying to escape with the child in a stolen car. The accident resulted in firing at the car to stop him. The police say that the boy’s father refused to surrender despite several warnings and that he has a criminal background including drug trafficking.
However, the accused says that the police did not warn him before the shooting. The child’s death has sparked widespread protests in Iran.
