The head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, described the “assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, as a declaration of war,” stressing that “the response will be in a way that history will immortalize.”
Azizi said: “The response to the assassination of Haniyeh and his companion will have several specifications: inevitable, painful, and firm, and will cause regret, be deterrent, and teach the enemy a lesson it will not forget.” He stressed that “Iran will not back down in defending its national security, the interests of its people, and its revolutionary values.”
In a message to Israel, the Iranian parliamentarian said: “We will threaten your security anywhere in the world and we will disturb your peace anywhere in the world,” adding that “the Iranian response will be comprehensive, multi-dimensional and in a way that will be immortalized in history.”
In the context, the spokesman for the Iranian judiciary confirmed that “the investigations into the assassination of Haniyeh have begun and the results will be revealed later,” stressing that “no one has been arrested in connection with the assassination of Haniyeh and what is being circulated in the media is incorrect.”
Last Wednesday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the killing of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and one of his companions, as a result of a bombing that targeted their residence in the capital, Tehran.
