Diplomatic relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have been deteriorating for some time. Today (Tuesday) it was reported that Iranians attempted to assassinate a senior Azerbaijani official, Fazil Mustafa, at his home in the city of Baku. According to the report, the senior was shot several times and rushed to the hospital.
