Iran’s delivery of missiles has changed the US attitude towards strikes inside Russia /

“The US has blocked the use of weapons such as Britain’s Storm Shadow missiles on Russian soil, fearing an escalation of the conflict. Pressure has mounted in recent weeks for the US and Britain to change their policies on long-range weapons, with calls on Wednesday joined by former [ASV] army commanders in Europe and former US ambassadors,” the publication says.

In a letter to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, former US and British officials called for lifting restrictions on these weapons, saying that by “arbitrarily limiting” Kyiv’s ability to use them, Western aid becomes “less effective”.

The signatories, including General Philip Breedlove, the former commander of NATO’s joint forces, and Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, the former commander of US forces in Europe, stress that this winter will be the hardest for Ukrainians as the Russians seek to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to “freeze them in their homes.”

“The Times”, citing its sources, reports that the US president could agree to the use of “Storm Shadow”/SCALP missiles to destroy targets on Russian territory. At the same time, there is no talk of allowing US-supplied ATACMS missiles to be used for these purposes.

At the same time, the Bloomberg news agency reports that the US and Great Britain are discussing the possibility of allowing Ukraine to use British cruise missiles that use US navigation data to strike targets inside Russia.
