Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pazhan has reaffirmed his support for “resistance movements” in the Middle East, including Hezbollah. In a letter addressed to the terrorist organization’s leader Hassan Nasrallah, Pazhan expressed his commitment to supporting the fight against the “Zionist regime,” which he accuses of “criminal policies” against Palestinian Arabs in the Gaza Strip.

Ynet writes about this.

According to Pazkhian, the Islamic Republic has always supported resistance against Israel and his rise to power will not change this policy. The president stressed that no changes in Iran’s foreign policy towards Israel should be expected, despite his moderate views compared to previous leaders of the country.

In the election, Pazkhian defeated conservative candidate Saeed Jalili, receiving 54.67% of the vote. Iranian elections are traditionally subject to the strict control of the Guardian Council of the Constitution, leaving little room for major political change through election campaigns.

Despite his desire to improve Iran’s relations with the international community and revive the nuclear deal that collapsed after the US withdrew from it during Donald Trump’s presidency, Pazkhian said Iran has no plans to resume diplomatic relations with Israel.
