Iraqi Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi announced the allocation of residential lands to the ministry’s employees in all governorates of the country. He also stated that the ministry is working to change the official military uniform for army personnel in early January.
Al-Abbasi said, in a statement, “The Council of Ministers approved the Ministry of Defense’s plan, which includes the distribution of lands to the Ministry’s employees, including officers and soldiers, in all governorates,” noting that the distribution “includes the governorates of Basra, Nineveh, and Najaf Al-Ashraf after Baghdad.”
The Iraqi Council of Ministers approved, on Tuesday, the project submitted by the Ministry of Defense, and the Council said in a statement: “In fairness on the part of the government to the members of the Ministry of Defense, it voted to allocate a plot of land in the Nahrawan area in Baghdad to distribute it among the members of the Ministry of Defense, including officers, ranks, and employees. The Ministry will undertake the preparation of lands in the governorates, to be distributed among the categories mentioned above.”
The Iraqi Minister of Defense added that the ministry will lay the foundation stone for Kanon City in the Taji area, which includes 15,000 housing units designated for leaders and officers of the Iraqi army.
On the other hand, Al-Abbasi explained that the ministry “is working to change the uniforms of Iraqi army personnel, starting on January 6,” and continued, “A private company has been contracted to print ID cards and badges for all members of the ministry and employees.”
