Iraq and Syria sign partnership agreement in many commercial and investment fields

/ The Iraqi Ministry of Trade announced, on Wednesday, the signing of a joint memorandum with its Syrian counterpart for cooperation in many commercial and investment fields, on the sidelines of the conclusion of the work of the Iraqi-Syrian Joint Committee.

The Trade Media said in a statement received by Agency, “On the sidelines of the conclusion of the work of the Iraqi-Syrian Joint Committee, the Minister of Trade, Athir Daoud Al-Ghariri, and the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, signed the joint minutes of cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, industry, finance, science, culture, infrastructure, energy and foreign affairs.”

Al-Ghariri confirmed, according to the statement, that “the committee’s meetings resulted in the signing of memoranda of understanding for cooperation in the fields of communications, labor, social affairs and social protection, public works and housing, and industrial property protection, in addition to an appendix to the scientific and technical cooperation protocol in the fields of specifications, standards, quality control and granting certificates of conformity.”

Al-Ghariri added, “It was also agreed to remove all obstacles that hinder the trade exchange process by opening trade centers in both Iraq and Syria, expanding participation in international and specialized exhibitions held on the lands of both countries, and urging Iraqi and Syrian investors to establish economic development projects in all fields.”

The statement indicated that “the Joint Committee held its twelfth session in Baghdad on the first and twenty-second of February, within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Syrian Arab Republic, and with the aim of developing and deepening relations in various fields of common interest in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly countries and based on the directions of the governments of the two countries to raise the level of cooperation and coordination between the two sides to reach the level of ambition.”
