/ The head of the Aegean Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Marine Products Exporters Association, Mehmet Ozturk, said on Tuesday that Iraq imported nearly 8 million dollars of Turkish sesame during the past year.
He added, “Turkey boosted sesame exports from $77 million in 2022 to $124.5 million in 2023, an increase of 62%,” adding that “Turkey’s new goal in sesame exports is to reach $250 million.”
Ozturk stated, “Poland was the leader in sesame exports from Turkey in 2023, amounting to 9 million 164 thousand dollars. We exported sesame worth 7.7 million dollars to Iraq, to Germany 3.2 million dollars, to Greece 2.6 million dollars, to Romania 2.5 million dollars, and to Japan: $2.3 million.
