/ The Iraqi national football team intensified its training on Thursday evening, in preparation for its match against the South Korean national team the day after tomorrow, Saturday, at five o’clock in the evening (17:00), in an international friendly match hosted by New York University Stadium in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
The evening training was attended by the head of the Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muftan, and the head of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal. It took place at the New York University training centers in Saadiyat, and all 26 players participated in it.
After the end of the training, the head of the Olympic Committee, Aqil Muftan, met with the national team players and the technical staff, and urged them to double their efforts in the current stage, in order to continue to enhance the honorable image of Iraqi football, and strive to preserve the gains that have been achieved.
Moftan appreciated the support provided by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, before the Lions of Mesopotamia begin their participation in the Asian Cup finals, scheduled to be held in Qatar from January 12 to February 10.
For his part, the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, stressed the importance of presenting the best levels and leaving a positive mark to raise the name of Iraq high in this important event.
Darjal stressed the need to intensify efforts to achieve the best results, and for the representation to be honorable after the distinguished appearance in the previous events, and for the team to be the dark horse in the current version of the Asian Cup.
It is expected that the national team will undergo a final training session tomorrow morning before facing the South Korean team, in a match that will be held without an audience.
