/ The head of the Brazilian Animal Protein Federation, Ricardo Santin, announced that Iraq was among the top ten countries importing chicken during the year 2023.

He said that chicken meat exports to Arab countries are expected to maintain the same level during the year 2024, and to reach new destinations that did not import this product, according to Western media.

He pointed out that the growth rate reached 6.8% for total exports of chicken meat and will reach 4.6 million tons this year, and exports are expected to remain constant, with a total of $8.978 billion.

According to the data provided by the federation, the main importer of Brazilian chicken meat is China, with a total of 632.2 million tons, followed by the United Arab Emirates, which imported 396 thousand tons, followed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reaching 337.4 thousand tons.

Iraq came among the top ten in importing Brazilian chicken meat, with an expansion of 184% over the year 2022, reaching 137.6 thousand tons, according to the president of the Brazilian Animal Protein Federation, indicating that the increase in Brazil’s exports to Iraq is due to the decrease in production and export of chicken in Turkey.
