Iraq is the largest importer of commercial goods from Jordan this year

/ The Jordanian Chamber of Commerce announced on Wednesday that Iraq came first as the largest importer of commercial goods during 10 months of the current year 2023.

The Chamber said in a statement seen by Agency, “Goods and commodities were exported to Arab and foreign countries, during 10 months of the current year 2023, at a value of about 1,142 million Jordanian dinars, compared to 741 million Jordanian dinars for the same period last year.”

She indicated that “Iraq came first as the Arab country that imported the most from Jordan in terms of the value of imported goods during 10 months of 2023, reaching 482 million Jordanian dinars, followed by the UAE with 161 million Jordanian dinars, then Saudi Arabia with 90 million dinars, Saudi Arabia with 72 million dinars, and Egypt.” Fifthly, with 80 million dinars, then Switzerland, with 73 million dinars.”

She noted that “the Amman Chamber of Commerce issues certificates of origin for agricultural and animal products, raw Jordanian natural resources, and foreign goods that are being re-exported,” noting that “the certificates of origin that went to Iraq amounted to 1,375 certificates.”

Jordanian Trade explained that “the value of exports of foreign products (re-exports) amounted to 487 million Jordanian dinars, then industrial products worth 153 million dinars, agricultural products 148 million dinars, Arab products about 135 million dinars, and the rest for many different other products.”

The US dollar is equal to about 70 Jordanian dinars.

It is noteworthy that Iraq imports most goods and merchandise from neighboring countries, especially Turkey and Iran, after Jordan was a large market for Iraq in the 1990s during the period of the economic blockade.
