/ The Jordanian Chamber of Commerce announced on Saturday that Iraq ranked first among countries importing commercial goods from Jordan during the first quarter of the current year 2024.

The chamber said in a statement seen by Agency, the value of the chamber’s exports increased by 329 million dinars during the first quarter of this year, compared to 284 million dinars for the same period last year 2023.

She explained, “Iraq came first as the Arab country that imported the most from Jordan in terms of the value of imported goods during the first quarter of this year, which amounted to 161 million Jordanian dinars, followed by Switzerland with 32 million Jordanian dinars, then Egypt with 25 million dinars, and the Emirates with 24.7 million dinars.” One million dinars, and Saudi Arabia is fifth with 14 million Jordanian dinars.”

The statement noted that, “The Amman Chamber of Commerce issues certificates of origin for agricultural and animal products, raw Jordanian natural resources, and for foreign goods that are being re-exported,” noting that “the certificates of origin that went to Iraq amounted to 523 Jordanian dinar certificates for the same period last year.” .

The Chamber continued by saying, “The value of exports of foreign products (re-exports) during the first quarter of the current year amounted to 171 million dinars, then industrial products amounted to about 53 million dinars, Arab products amounted to 30 million dinars, then agricultural products amounted to about 25 million dinars, while the The rest of the exports are for other products.”

The US dollar is equal to about 70 Jordanian dinars.

It is noteworthy that Iraq imports most goods and merchandise from neighboring countries, especially Turkey and Iran, after Jordan was a large market for it in the 1990s during the period of the economic blockade on the country.
