Iraq market suspends its activity for one day

/ The Iraq Stock Exchange announced, on Sunday, that it would suspend its activity for one day.

The market said in a statement received by Agency, “Based on the decision of the Council of Ministers to declare an official holiday for one day on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Imam Musa al-Kadhim.”

He added, “The first trading session will be on Wednesday, February 7.”

It is noteworthy that the Iraq Stock Exchange organizes five trading sessions weekly from Sunday to Thursday, and 103 Iraqi joint-stock companies are listed on it, representing the sectors of banking, communications, industry, agriculture, insurance, financial investment, tourism, hotels, and services.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed that official work be suspended next Tuesday in Baghdad on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Imam al-Kadhim.

On the 25th of Rajab every year, tens of thousands of Shiite pilgrims commemorate the death of Imam al-Kadhim (the seventh Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt).

The rituals include walking from different areas of Baghdad and some nearby governorates towards the Kadhimiya area north of the capital, where the shrine of Imam Kadhim is located.
