/ The American magazine CEOWORLD reported on Sunday that Iraq ranked 95th and last in the percentage of the female workforce for the year 2024.

According to the magazine’s report, which Agency has reviewed, the barriers that prevent women from joining the workforce, such as tax distortions, discrimination, and social and cultural factors, are actually more costly than previously thought.

On the other hand, the magazine says, the benefits of closing gender gaps are greater than expected, stressing the need for policy makers to take urgent action to remove these barriers and ensure equal opportunities for all.

The magazine pointed out that “the global average for women in the workforce this year reached 50.6%, adding that Burundi (a country in East Africa) has the highest percentage of women in the workforce, as the percentage of females is 78.25% of the formal and informal workforce.

She pointed out that “Iraq ranked 95th and last in the lowest percentage of women in the workforce, as the percentage of women is only 10.76% of the workforce, which leaves men to work in most of the country’s jobs.”

The magazine’s report states that “although the Iraqi government has made some efforts to improve women’s rights, there are still various obstacles that prevent women from obtaining equal rights and the ability to work.”
